SCHWARZENEGGER TO HIKE SALES TAX Posted By Rick August 21st, 2008 ![]() “Read my lips: No new taxes!” Deja vu, anyone? We’ve got yet another RINO (Republican in name only) in action and out of control. California has the HIGHEST sales tax in the nation… and it’s about to get even higher… Thanks to Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. He wants to raise the state sales tax… contrary to all of the “no new taxes” hype during the 2003 recall and his reelection. Schwarzenegger’s promise not to raise taxes was one of his strongest selling points! What makes it worse is that we as Californians already have to deal with the fact that we have some of the HIGHEST tax rates in the nation… Most of our state income tax brackets are THE WORST in the nation. We have the highest gas tax rates. The state is brutal on the business climate. The obscene property taxes harm the market and discourage home ownership. Moreover, there’s NO such thing as a temporary tax. The only temporary tax in history was the telephone luxury tax… and that lasted 107 years. Do you really think that a California governor - who will most likely be a democrat - will roll back the sales tax 3 years from now?! If you do, you’re delusional. Schwarzenegger told us he was against gay marriage. He told us that he was staunch on border control and against appeasing illegal aliens and their open border cronies. He told us that we would be fiscally conservative on spending. He told us that he was against raising taxes. Now, Gov. Arnold ‘RINO’ Schwarzenegger is FOR gay marriage, FOR raising taxes, and FOR appeasing the open border advocates… What gives?! Did the in-laws finally get to him? Our governor WAS conservative… But he’s not anymore. We need to show him that he answers to the people who elected him… NOT to the liberals in Sacramento. Little Zachary Foster was playing in a relative’s front yard after a visit to the beach when tragedy struck. One minute, everyone was enjoying a family vacation in Florida. But that quickly changed. “My wife yelled, ‘Get out of the way,” said Zachary’s father, Charlie Foster. The driver careened through the front yard and crushed the boy against a parked car… Right in front of his family. The driver got out of the car, looked at the boy, then climbed back into the car and sped away. His father tried resuscitating the child, but Zach was already dead… and the killer was no where to be found. He was eventually caught… The unlicensed felon faces time in prison… HOPEFULLY for the rest of his life. The family is now trying to cope. What makes things worse is the fact that with his criminal roster, this man SHOULD have been in prison at the time of Zachary’s death. They have only one wish now… that little Zachary be laid to rest at a place he loved to play: His grandpa’s farm. It’s 40 acres, family-owned for generations, and at the end of a dirt road in Lakeside. Of course, in California, nothing is easy. You have lawyers, environmentalists, and bureaucrats complicating things… Including the final resting spot of little Zach. Aside from working to make sure that this criminal isn’t let back on the streets, they also need a Major Use Land Permit to bury their son. Though the permit can take 6 to 8 months to obtain, Supervisor Dianne Jacob assures me that it will be expedited. The land use permit isn’t cheap. It would have cost this family, at a time when money AND hope are at their lowest point, $8,000. But this morning, my listeners covered that cost. Thank you SO MUCH. He’s doing things that the so-called “hard-hitting” reporters of the lamestream media wouldn’t touch in a thousand years - he’s asking left-leaning politicians the questions that the media doesn’t have the guts to ask. His name is Jason Mattera, chief spokesman for The YOUNG AMERICAN’S FOUNDATION… This fresh-faced kid looks as though he just stepped off a D.C. tour bus to visit the Washington Monument, but that’s hardly the case. Mattera takes his camera crew and confronts these corrupt, liberal Washington insiders who are never second-guessed, let alone questioned properly. He confronts the likes of Rep. Jack Murtha and Senator John Kerry on their ruthless and slanderous accusations of our troops… Mattera walks up to them, disarms them by appearing inquisitive and then bam! He starts the grilling process. But it doesn’t stop there… he ambushes Rep. William Jefferson about his “ethical” platform in Congress, Sen. Ted Kennedy about his questionable tax strategies… Find out more about Jason and his new conservative movement by going to his website at YAF.org. They want the family of 5 to drop their SUV and cram everyone into a Honda Civic Hybrid. They want to force the canvas “hippy bags” down our throats by banning ALL plastic bags like they’re drugs because the [mainly biodegradable, mind you] bags might get into the ocean and effectively choke off all the fish in the ocean. Basically, us evil humans are in the way of everything. While Assemblymember Lloyd Levine works on convincing the ENTIRE state to ban ALL plastic bags, a certain environmental group is trying to get the City of San Diego to follow the cue of Los Angeles and San Fransisco. Danielle Miller, the outreach director with San Diego Coastkeeper (an environmental group) has asked the San Diego City Council committee to pursue legislation to ban the use of plastic carryout shopping bags in San Diego. So, we decided to talk to Danielle Miller. We wanted to get in the brain of this sub-hippy movement. Here are the audio segments of the interview: [Report comment abuse here] TASK FORCE FORMS TO COMBAT HUMAN TRAFFICKING Posted By Rick July 31st, 2008 ![]() When I say “human trafficking,” what do you think? Most of you probably think it’s a politically correct way of talking about coyotes transporting illegals across the border… But that’s not just what human trafficking is about. Human trafficking is a problem right here in San Diego, namely due to our close proximity to Mexico. It has a lot more to do with child prostitution, and it’s a horrifying reality that is happening within OUR county limits. You may also think that this horror effects only a select few of the poor children living in areas like San Ysidro and Barrio Logan. If you think this, you’re terribly mistaken. Human trafficking pimps are recruiting girls as young as 14 and 15… Right out of North County high schools and throughout San Diego. Your daughters and the girls they know could be in danger. I spoke to Marrisa Ugarte of The Bilateral Safety Corridor Coalition (BSCC) about this. Marrisa and her organization work to fight human trafficking and the enslavement of young girls and children being forced into the evil world of child pornography and prostitution. If you would like to know more about Marrisa and her organization, go to: If you know of an incident, please call the BSCC as soon as possible on their emergency hotline: 619-666-2757 If you would like more information, their office number is: 619-336-0770 [Report comment abuse here] A Little Girl Needs Your Help Posted By Rick July 28th, 2008 ![]() There is a 7 year-old special-needs Ramona girl who needs your help… First of all, it’s a miracle that she’s even alive. She’s alive because she and her family never gave up… The girl is Alyssa Keen. At 2-days old, the family doctor told the girl’s family to prepare for their newborn baby girl to die. In fact, it wasn’t even just the family doctor… The hospitals wanted the Keen family to sign a ‘do not resuscitate’ order, and to simply walk away. But now… she has FAR exceeded everyone’s expectations. She’s a happy little girl. She just needs help. AND THANKS TO YOU, MY WONDERFUL AUDIENCE, MANY OF YOU DID JUST THAT THIS MORNING. Despite the fact that her family was told that she would never live past one year old, she far exceeded everyone’s expectations. Per a close family friend, Lesley LaFuze, this is part of what she wrote on behalf of the Keen family in the Ramona Sentential prior to our show this morning: Alyssa has been sleeping in a crib for 7 years. She can now sit up, and there is a constant fear of her falling out of her bed. She has outgrown her crib. Jessica also has to pick up her 30 pound little girl every day and is straining her back arms and neck by doing so. A bed with a lift would minimize that problem. Pretty soon Alyssa won’t be able to fit in her bed at all and the only solution would be the floor or an oversized playpen. A 7 year old should not have to sleep in those conditions. I am writing this article in hopes to fulfill Alyssa’s next need: A bed. After hours of researching a bed that will fulfill Alyssa’s needs, Jessica found the perfect solution: A SleepSafe Bed. Instead of rails it has dual see-through panes. I has an electric lift. It has high sides that fold down for easy access. The bed that has all the proper and necessary needs for Alyssa, will cost Jessica upwards of $10,000. As a single mom, it’s an impossible expense. It would be a hardship for most, next to impossible for her. If you find it in your heart to help out my best friend, please contact me at bed4alyssa@yahoo.com or send a donation to: Alyssa Keen — Bed Fund Thanks to YOU, my listeners, and Joe Halleck, the CEO of SleepSafe bed who was so kind as to meet us half way on the costs. After Monday’s show, little Alyssa will have her bed soon!!! But the Keens are still in need of a hand. Through some tough economic times and 14 surgeries in just 7 years, any help would be appreciated. And if you care to donate via PayPal, feel free to do so by putting in email address: LESLEY1979@COX.NET 100% of the funds go directly to help the miracle baby: Little Alyssa Keen of Ramona, CA.
